Novak Djokovic won the Australian Open. Tied with Nadal in the Grand Slam count.

Melbourne: Serbian player Novak Djokovic won the Australian Open title. The player defeated Greek player Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets. (6–3,7–6,7–6).

This is the 35-year-old’s 10th Australian Open title. With this win, Djokovic regained the world number one ranking. Djokovic also managed to join Rafael Nadal in winning 22 Grand Slam men’s singles titles.

The Joko-Tsitsipas final managed to bring the gallery at the packed Rodlaver Arena to its peak of excitement with Greek Serbian fans. But the twenty-four-year-old Tsitsipas, who had to lose against Djokovic in the 2021 French Open final, had to settle for second place this time as well.

Tsitsipas fought in the long second and third sets leading to the tiebreaker, but the 35-year-old Djokovic could not hold his own against the courage and experience. After Djokovic led 5-0 in the decisive third set tiebreaker, Tsitsipas fought back to 5-6, but after missing a return, Djokovic took the match and the title.

Djokovic was unable to play in the Australian Open last year due to not taking the Covid vaccine. Djokovic was sent back without taking part in the match because he did not take the vaccine. Djokovic’s victory was also sweetened by the revenge of winning the title at the Australian Open, where he was sent back.
