Liverpool: Real Madrid defeated Liverpool by five goals in the first quarter of the UEFA Champions League. Liverpool suffered a huge defeat at Anfield, their own ground. Liverpool lost after being two goals ahead. Vinicius Junior and Karim Benzema scored twice for Real. The second leg of the match will be played on March 16 at Real Madrid’s home ground, the Santiago Stadium.
Liverpool took a two-goal lead within the first 15 minutes of the match. Darwin Nunes scored in the 4th minute and Mohamed Salah in the 14th minute for Chembada. But Real, who was crying from the initial setback, fought back. Vinicius Jr. shot in the 21st minute and 36th minute and gave Real a draw. Both teams ended the first half with a draw.
The Spanish giants were on a rampage in the second half at Anfield Stadium. Real’s third goal was through Militao in the 47th minute. Benzema scored in the 55th minute and 67th minute to give Real a landslide victory.
With this victory, Real dominated Liverpool. Liverpool can progress to the quarters only if they win the second leg by a huge margin. Reds will have to really sweat if they want to win at Royal’s own home ground.
